It was a great day at our Fall Open House with our Chili Competition and wine pull. Everyone enjoyed the five different chili's entered and their unique and diverse flavors. Here are the five different recipes!
Chili #5 Winning Recipe!!
2 lbs. Ground Beef
1 lb. Italian Sausage (hot or Sweet)
2 large onions Diced
1 small can tomato paste
2 can black beans
1 can Bush’s white Chili Beans
1 large 28 oz. caned diced tomatoes
1 large 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes ( you could use more for larger yield)
1 cup water
4 table spoon Chili powder
1 table spoon cumin
1 table spoon yellow mustard
1 tea spoon cinnamon
1 table spoon garlic powder
½ cup brown sugar
¼ Sriracha sauce (more for spicier)
Salt & Pepper to taste
Brown meats till crispy, be sure to break up to a fine consistency add half of the spices while browning meat. Add onion cook a couple minutes, add tomato paste cook a couple more minutes, add water. Simmer for about 10 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients stir often and cook for 1 hour.
Chili #4 included some fun simple ingredients for a quick dinner
1 (15 oz.) can meat-only (no beans)
1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans
1 (15 oz.) can pinto beans
1 (15 oz.) can black beans
1 (15 oz.) can diced tomatoes
1 (15 oz.) can fiesta corn
1 (10 oz.) can tomatoes with green chilies
8 oz. Velveeta
Add all ingredients (un-drained) to slow-cooker on low for 4 hours or until heated through.
Chili #3 has a fun Santa-Fe twist
1 Jar Cento Chef Roasted Peppers
2 Cans Ro-Tel Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilis
4 Cans Tomato Puree
2 Pounds Beef
2 Cans of Kidney Beans
2 Cans of Kernel Corn
2 packages of McCormick Chili Package
Brown meat, add chili kit, add remaining ingredients. Low for 3 hours.
Chili #2 is a classic sweetchili
3 Cans Bush HOMESTYLE Baked Beans
1 Package Carroll Shelby's Chili Kit
2 Cans Tomato Puree
2 Cans Ro-Tel Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilis
1 Pound Beef, Pork, Veal Mix
4 Hot Poultry Sausage Patties
1 Pound Ground Beef
2 Packages Wegman's Mirepoix
Brown Meat. Add Mirepoix and chili kit. Then add tomatoes and beans. Cook on low for 3 hours
Chili #1 is a bean-less chili
1 lb. Ground beef
1/2 medium sized onion
1 Large Sweet Pepper
1 Can Diced Tomatoes - 14.5 oz (with a little water)
1 Can Tomato Sauce - 14.5 oz
1 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cayenne Pepper
1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Ancho Chili Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
1/4 Teaspoon Cumin
1/4 Teaspoon Cilantro
1/4 Teaspoon Chili Powder
1/2 Packet of mild or hot chili mix depending on preference
Brown ground beef until cooked through. Add onion and pepper cook until soft Add diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, then all spices, bring to a boil, then turn down and simmer for 1-2 hours. Add more water if too thick.
